Biography

Singer and composer.

He was born on the 18th of April, 1972, in Mayarí, Santiago de Cuba.

Since his early years till university stage he took part in several student festivals related to music and started composing in his adolescence.

In February 1997, together with young Ernesto Rodríguez from Santiago, he founded the Dúo Postrova. Sosa was the lead voice guitarist, while Ernesto handled the second voice and the requinto. The duo was a true air of renewal for Cuban music, revitalizing the traditional sounds with a new style which converted them into vanguard artists.

The Dúo Postrova signed with label EMI Odeón and on the year 2000 its first record was released, for which promotion they travelled all over Spain with huge success.

The cooperation of the duo lasted for 5 years, then Sosa and Postrova split in 2002. A year and a half later, Sosa decided to keep on with his career as trovador.

From that moment on, he started with an endless series of performances around the whole island of Cuba. He offered concerts in some remarkable locations of the country, like the Museo de Bellas Artes, the Centro Pablo de la Torriente Brau, the Centro Hispanoamericano de Cultura and the Teatro Amadeo Roldán.

On an international level, he performed in countries like Chile, Venezuela, Mexico, Bahamas, Cyprus and Spain.

Thanks to his hard work on the artistic scene, he could share the stage with relevant interpreters such as Compay Segundo, Pablo Milanés, Silvio Rodríguez, Carlos Varela and Los Papines from Cuba, as well as the Spanish Ana Belén and Miguel Ríos, and even the Argentinian idol Fito Páez.

His discography includes pieces featuring other ministrels, like the CD Acabo de soñar, homage to the National Hero José Martí; the CD La Estrella de Cuba, commemorating the bicentennial of José María Heredia and the album Felicidades trovador, a tribute under the label of BIS Music to Cuban singer-songwriter Augusto Blanca.

Sosa signed, moreover, some individual records like Pasado los treinta, published under the label A Guitarra Limpia and Eduardo Sosa, by Producciones Colibrí, both in 2007.
