Lucha Almada

Lucha Almada

Biography

Like it usually happens with those who have to pave their way based only on their own virtues, a constellation of  creators and songs have slowly emerged, little by little, as part of the new generations. The 1990s began with salsa rhythm, congas and brass sonority, refrains and dancing steps, but the trova song performed by Sindo Garay and Manuel Corona, by José Antonio Méndez, César Portillo de la Luz, Silvio Rodríguez and Pablo Milanés never passed away.
Faithful to the trova, Vanito and Ale, with their compositions, have been at the vanguard of an entire rock-based musical and juvenile movement that already plays a significant role in Cuban musical sphere.  Lucha Almada is the name of a band formed by Vanito and other three musicians and later on by Alejandro. In their performances, the rock sonorities often merge with genres and elements of Cuban music, all of which gives this group a distinctive touch.
Themes like "Rockason", "El que lo coja es suyo, "Rocka Cola" and others, show this sort of "merging", this Cuban sonority present in the work of both creators.
The texts of Vanito and Ale are remarkable for their ethical and aesthetic values. Young but mature composers, the texts of their songs - artistically elaborated " reflect the moment they live as well as the country and the world they live in, being also an inner reflect of themselves.  Once again, Cuban music is enriched and renovated by the work of Lucha Almada[1]. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [1] Note written for Cuban label BIS Music by Adolfo Costales, musician and discographic producer.
