Biografie

Perico, Matanzas, August 26th, 1937. When this little girl’s family moved out to Havana, she started to sing along with her sisters Rita and Mercedes. At the age of 15 she travelled to Venezuela to visit a family and in a party she was listened by the producer Aristides Borrego, who immediately hired her for the children TV show "Humo y fantasía".
Gaspar Pumarejo (successful producer, animator and first man to start TV in Cuba) also saw her acting in Caracas and offered her to work in the island. She made her debut in the famous cabaret Ali Bar of Havana, in 1956; she also acted on radio and TV with great success and worked for Moliner, Panart and Maype record companies.
She went on tours along lots of countries, so that her quality was appreciated also in México, Colombia and Dominican Republic, among the others.
From 1961 she lived a while in Mexico, then in Miami, till she finally established herself in Puerto Rico. During the 60’s and 70’s she was well requested by the audience and made a lot of theme taping, till she decided to dedicate herself to Christian music in the 80’s.
Blanca Rosa Gil has left her mark in the history of Cuban music as one of the most prepared voices.
