Biografie

Composer and interpreter.

Manuel Argudín was born in Havana, Cuba, on June 2, 1961. At an early age, when he was only 11 years old, he began his musical studies, joining also the amateur movement in which he obtained several awards at Student Festivals. In 1979, he integrated the "Cubanueva" group of the New Trova Movement, where he stayed for more than one year participating at Festivals held by the Federation of University Students, as well as in concerts held in different parts of the country.

Though from 1981 to 1992 his work had nothing to do with the musical world, Manuel Argudín was always linked to music, joining several groups of amateur artists as a guitar player and singer and composing his first songs.

In 1991 he entered the "Ignacio Cervantes" Higher Institute, where he received classes on music, singing and performance for three years.

In 1992 he started working at the "Antonio María Romeu" Provi ncial Center of Music in Havana, thus beginning his professional life and where he is still working at present. His repertoire is mainly made up by his own compositions, but he also performs different Cuban and international musical genres, interpreting authors like Sindo Garay, Manuel Corona, Miguel Matamoros, José Antonio Méndez, Pablo Milanés, Silvio Rodríguez, Amaury Pérez, Eduardo Ramos, Noel Nicola, Simón Díaz, Alberto Cortés, María Eugenia Walsh, Joan Manuel Serrat and others.

Manuel Argudín has made countless presentations in Cuba and abroad, in countries like Mexico, Guatemala and Venezuela.
