  El Indio Biography :

Singer.
Sixto Llorente, also known as "El Indio" ("The Indian") in the musical jargon, was born in Santa Clara City and is nowadays considered one of the most versatile singers in Cuba.
He performed with the Aliamén Orchestra and he is currently member of the "Manolito y su Trabuco" Orchestra with which he has interpreted songs that have become true hits of the orchestra as, for example, "Llegó la música cubana".  He has been ratified among the most outstanding voices of dancing popular music orchestras in Cuba.
El Indio displays an enviable tuning, rhythm and phrasing; that is why the mass media tend to compare his qualities with both the charisma and personality shown by B.B. King.  But, it should also be mentioned that he is one of the most audacious and skillful improvisers of Cuban popular music.
His distinguishing mark has been registered in a number of phonograms recorded by Manolito Simonet`s Orchestra and in his prominent performance as guest artist in the CD entitled "La rumba soy yo" that received the 2001 Latin Grammy Award.
Sonero par excellence and Cuban traditional music lover, his first record as soloist  was entitled "Espíritu y tradición".  This record, whose musical direction and arrangements were made by Orlando Valle "Maraca", reflects different sides of his personality through an amalgam of both tradition and modernity.
Orlando Valle, the gifted Cuban musician, when referring to El Indio expressed:  "Sonero, timbero, no matter how you call him, El Indio is, at this moment in time, a compulsory reference for the new generations of singers in Cuba and the world, since his inborn flavor and broad capacity to cover the most different genres, namely, the Son Montuno or the Bolero, astonish the audience who should not miss the unrepeatable opportunity of listening to a fully matured artist..."
