Singer and composer.
Jorge Luis Rojas ("Rojitas") began his professional career in 1982 with the "Tampa" group, with which he successfully participated in several university festivals.
In 1984, together with guitar player Alfredo Hernández, he founded the " Dúo Evocación", with the purpose of rescuing the best legacy of the Cuban traditional trova, and in 1989 recorded the CD entitled "Evocación a la Trova". At that time, "Rojitas" was also a member of the New Trova Movement, and became a member of the Asociación de Hermanos Saíz gathering the most prominent young talents. Later on he joined the "Oasis" group, performing different genres such as rock, jazz, ballad, and country and Cuban music. During this period he began composing.
In 1991, he joined the renowned "Adalberto Álvarez y su son" Orchestra, recording several CDs, besides singing themes that, in his voice, became first-rate hits in the national hit parade. During his work with Master Adalberto Álvarez, he made many international tours, visiting countries such as Venezuela, Martinique, Mexico, Portugal, Switzerland, France, the Netherlands and Spain, sharing the scenario with artists like Willy Colón, Rey Barreto and the Gran Combo de Puerto Rico, among others.
By the end of 1994 he decided to create his own orchestra, with the purpose of spreading his own songs, with a different style of salsa rhythm, in Spanish as well as in English. On January 19, 1995 he made his debut at the Palacio de la Salsa at the Riviera Hotel in Havana, where he attained a resounding success.
Since then, some of his own songs were popularized and in May 1995 "Rojitas" recorded his first CD "Regálame tu encanto", which became a hit both in Cuba and abroad. In order to promote this record, he made a tour through Spain, leaving an unforgettable musical memory specially in Barcelona and Valencia.
Later on, he made some other international tours, mainly to Europe and at present he keeps on recording, with very favorable critics and a great market success.
Likewise, "Rojitas" is also an excellent communicator, a gift that has allowed him to conduct important television programs in his country.
