  Julio Blanco Biography :  
 

Composer, actor, dancer and choreographer.   
Havana, 1909-1982. He is the author of more than 300 musical themes of the most diverse genres,  approximately 70 of them composed together with Marcelino Guerra "Rapindey."   
Julio Blanco Leonard worked in the artistic companies "Habanarte Criollo", "Maniatan Black Melody" and "Artística Nacional". He created his own group, with a repertoire of more than 60 musical themes. His works were played in the cinema, as for instance, in the films "Yo soy el héroe" (Cuba), "El recuerdo de tus labios" (the United States) and "Sube y Baja" (Mexico), among many others.  
His music was in great fashion in Europe, performed by the Cuban vedette Candita Batista and became great hits in the voices of Miguelito Valdés and Antonio Machín.   
In 1949 Julio Blanco Leonard was elected President of the General Society of Authors of Cuba. Afterwards, he represented his country at UNESCO and, as a composer, he carried out an important work until his death in 1982.
