  Julio Padrón Biography :

Trumpet player.
Julio Padrón Veranes was born in Colón on April 13, 1971.  His father was Maximino "Mino" Padrón, trombonist of the Montalvo Orchestra and other orchestras from famous circuses.  He was also Benny Moré`s friend.  Julio Padrón grew up in Pinar del Río and, when he was 11 years old, his father made him pass an aptitude test to study music.  So he entered into the music world.  He became trumpet player after studying at the Municipal Conservatory and, later on, at the National School of Art.
His professional career began with Bobby Carcassés` group and Ignacio Piñeiro`s National Septet.  Later on, he joined the "Adalberto Alvarez y su Son" Orchestra where he remained for three years, a fruitful period during which he became prominent for the different mambos in rhythm and melody.
Likewise, he formed part of the legendary Irakere group and his performances with Chucho Valdés reaffirmed his interest in jazz, a genre defined by Julio Padrón as "something that does not exist in theory; it is just the imagination, the creation of something new and that also exists in the Cuban music".  Besides being an eminent jazz player, Julio Padrón is capable of skillfully interpreting the broad spectrum of Cuban musical genres.
His exceptional qualities can be appreciated in his first record entitled "Descarga santa: Julio Padrón y los Amigos de Santa Amalia" (Real Rhythm).  Later on, his talent was corroborated with the launching of his CD "Buenas noticias" on the market under the Sunny Side Communications label which was commended by the Down Beat magazine:  "Julio Padrón`s art is rooted in Cuban traditions and he reflects it from the bebop to the samba... He stands out for the tone, the lyric intensity and the flexibility of his performance".
He has performed in important jazz centers across the world and has shared the stage with outstanding international artists because, when speaking of trumpet playing excellence within the jazz universe, his name stems out more and more for his quality.  Likewise, he has made a number of international tours as part of "Buscando a Chano" show and is member of the successful Afrocuban All Star project led by Juan de Marcos.
