Interpreter, composer and radio and tv anchorwoman. She studied at the Centro de Especialización de la Música "Ignacio Cervantes", graduating from the general course. Her professional career began as a member and soloist of the National Choir in 1963. Later on she continued her career as a singer soloist, closely linked to the Nueva Trova Movement. Currently, she is one of the most favorite singers in Cuba and abroad, not only for the peculiar harmonious sound and perfect tuning of her voice, but also for her versatile trajectory including, as a composer, a considerable list of beautiful songs. The critics, sparing no word, affirm Miriam has a deep and sensual voice capable of interpreting very diverse styles without never losing her communication capacity with the public. The combination of her vocal and dramatic aptitudes makes her one of the most charismatic Cuban female singers. She has given recitals in most of the Cuban theaters and concert halls and on television, and as part of her international career she has participated in festivals such as the Cervantino of Mexico, in 1992, and the MIDEM 96 in Cannes, France, besides many artistic tours through Latin American, Asian and European countries. Among the many acknowledgements received, are the Interpretation Prize in the "Adolfo Guzmán" Cuban Song Contest, in 1983 and 1984; the Cubadisco´99 Great Prize (the most important in the Cuban discography) with her CD Estás conmigo, dedicated to Bola de Nieve, and the Video´99 National Festival Award for the memorable homonymous concerto given by her at the National Theater of Cuba. She also won the "Caracol" Prize given to the best TV Program: "Pensamiento", besides several awards at the National Radio Festival granted to the team of the program "No hacen falta alas" of Radio Progreso. Due to the excellency of her artistic career, she was granted the Distinción por la Cultura Nacional award.
