  Trío Esperanza Biography :

The origin of this group dates back to 1993, when the Cuban musicians Danays Bautista, Emilio Bouza and Ricardo J. Balado decided to found the "La Plata Trio".
Two years later they became the "Esperanza Quartet", making two records for the Pacific Toyama Label ("Canciones desde el Corazón de La Habana" and "La Habana Ahora") and the CD entitled Trios de La Havana, with the discographic label BIS Music, in 1996.
In 1998 they performed at the Latin MIDSUMMER in Stockholm and in the year 2000 they went to Barcelona to perform at the Fiesta Mayor of that city, also recording original songs for the Gin Tonic label.
In 2001 they made their debut at the "La Zorra y el Cuervo" night-club, during the 2nd Women`s Jazz Festival. At that place, the quartet was enlarged with prominent musicians like Emir Santa Cruz playing the clarinet, Carlos Sarduy´s and Juan Carlos Abreu´s playing the trumpets, Majela Herrera´s flute, Dagoberto Quintana´s drums and Fernando Thor's bass, thus creating the Esperanza Band.
Since then, they have participated in a great number of musical events, such as the International Jazz Plaza Festivals, the International New Latin American Cinema Festival and the Pianissimo Plus Festival dedicated to Frank Emilio Flyn. They have also participated in the Cubadisco Awards and in the film "Jazz of Cuba", by film-maker Rolando Almirante.
With a quartet, quintet and octet formats, they have delighted the audience at important centers like "Marina Hemingway", "La Dominica", the "Habana Café" of the Meliá Cohiba Hotel and the "Delirio Habanero" Piano Bar.
They have shared the stage with the Puerto Rican singer Cheo Feliciano, the kettledrum player Charlie Sierra, Masters Enrique Plá, Basilio Márquez and Carlos Emilio from "Irakere" and with many other outstanding artists.
ESPERANZA, besides being a multifaceted group that performs with excellence the most different Cuban musical genres, has also become part of the most current jazz trends.
