Septet of traditional music.
This septet was founded at the beginning of the 1980s in Trinidad City, located in the Sancti Spíritus province. The septet adopted the name of musician Rafael Saroza, who was born in 1901 and died in 1940 and was one of the most important composers in Trinidad.
The Rafael Saroza Septet includes a bass, tres, bongos, violin, trumpet and three singers who also play the clave and the maraca. It has a broad repertoire of boleros, bolero-son, guarachas, son montuno and guajiras.
The Rafael Saroza Septet is one of the most prominent septets in Trinidad City due to the authentic way in which it performs and expresses the music from this central region of the country. It usually performs on squares and open spaces and constitutes one of the greatest attractions of the Trova House in that City.
The Rafael Saroza Septet has recorded for the Cuban EGREM and BIS Music labels.
