Troubadour, composer, arranger and poet.
Mario Darias Mérida was born on June 27, 1957 in Havana, Cuba. A self-taught and physicist by profession, he graduated from the "Enrique José Varona" Higher Pedagogic Institute in the Cuban capital.
Since very young he wrote poetry and set to music some of his poems and poems by other authors for which he was acknowledged at several contests in which he participated. Some of the songs he composed have been used in a number of Cuban radio programs. He has shared the stage with important Cuban troubadours as, for example, Pedro Luis Ferrer.
His most important awards include: the "Eduardo Saborit" Country Music Contest, Havana, Cuba, 1999; the Second Award at the "World-online" Poetry Contest, Barcelona, Spain, that same year; and a Mention at the "Nosside" Contest on poetry set to music, Cuba-Italy.
