The East: the cradle of son, swept to victory in Sonando en Cuba
Season three of the outstanding talent show of Cuban music Sonando en Cuba finished with an exceptional grand finale. East Cuba zone, specially its male voices, walked off all awards.
Anthony Puig, a young and talented singer from Santiago de Cuba, was awarded with the Best Son Singer prize of the contest and was also awarded with the First Prize of Sonando en Cuba. On the other hand, Yaliesky Zaldivar from Holguin province, was awarded with The Prize of Popularity and was also recognized with a Special Prize of Composition, for having performed during the season several pieces composed by him.
The judges were renowned artists of Cuban music led by Don Cesar "Pupy" Pedroso, a full-fledged maestro of popular music, who had the difficult task of choosing one voice among the three powerful finalists that represented each region of the country.
The maestro, before announcing the winner, stated: "the decision has been tough, we discussed it to the last minute, and we have concluded that because of the excellent tune, projection, stage movement, performance and repertoire, the winner is... Anthony Puig."
Representing West Cuba zone, the powerful vocalist Teresa Yanet was the finalist and from Central Cuba zone was Yudelkys Perez, a mature singer with a high vocal quality. Both finalists, as announced in the grand finale, will take part in international tours together with their coaches, the renowned artists Mayito Rivera and Haila Maria Mompie, respectively.
Undoubtedly, one the climactic moments of season three's grand finale was the presentation of the experienced son singer Candido Fabre, who had all the audience stand up and dance at the theater and at home.
Before finishing the show, it was announced that Paulo FG y la Elite will soon give a concert together with the other two coaches of the talent show and some young singers related to the project.
