Leo Vera was born in Guantánamo City, located in the most eastern region in Cuba. Since very young he used to sing with musical groups of different format.
For a while, he lived in the Isle of Youth where he continued singing with different local groups until he finally moved to Havana. In 1991, Leo Vera joined the famous Charanga Habanera, led by Master David Calzado, where he spent three years of fruitful work, performing on the most important stages in Cuba and abroad. He also made a number of records with this orchestra.
In 1994, he left the Charanga and joined the Irakere orchestra under the guidance of the legendary Chucho Valdés and some time after he decided to join saxophonist César López to integrate the "Havana Ensemble" band, together with a group of prestigious musicians.
Later on, he joined the Klimax group, led by Giraldo Piloto, with whom he worked for some months performing both in Cuba and abroad and participating in recordings of this group.R>After his work with the Klimax group, Leo Vera founded his own group, though he also continued his work as soloist, and his presence was acclaimed as special guest in a number of musical projects.
Leo Vera is one of the most versatile and exquisite singers in Cuba today and his deep vocal register allows him to successfully perform a wide range of genres as, for example, the bolero and the salsa music.
