Xiomara Laugart was born in Guantánamos, the most eastern province in Cuba.
During the 1980s, she participated in the important "Adolfo Guzmán" Cuban Music Contest where she was granted the highest award after interpreting "Canción a un viejo trovador" by Alberto Tosca. From that day on, she became one of the most brilliant representatives of Cuban song.
With the New Trova, Xiomara Laugart has interpreted songs composed by prominent authors ranging from Pablo Milanés, Silvio Rodríguez and Noel Nicola to Gerardo Alfonso and Raúl Torres.
Her voice has been considered a true prodigy that allows her to perform the most diverse genres as, for example, the bolero, the feeling and the guaguanco. She can perform the most different expressions of Cuban traditional and contemporary music.
