National Attributes



The Royal Palm (Roystonea regia): Because of its abundance in most of the Cuban territory, its slenderness and elegance, was declared a National Tree.

The Tocororo (Trogon): Native bird of Cuba which has a plumage in which are represented the colors of the national flag. His habits of life make him die in captivity, so the tocororo symbolizes freedom and is considered the National bird.

Butterfly (Hedychium coronarium): Although its origin is Asian, was carried in the breast of Cuban women as a symbol of rebellion since the beginning of the struggle for independence, which earned him the status of National Flower.
