Silvio Rodríguez was born in San Antonio de los Baños, Havana, on November 29, 1946.
Accompanied by his guitar, he began singing early in 1967. In 1968, he participated in the Political Song Encounter, organized by Casa de las Américas cultural center. In 1970 he joined the Sound Experimentation Group from the ICAIC (Cuban Institute of Art and Filming Industry).
Since then, his name would be associated with the Cuban New Trova Movement, being one of his top representatives.
He is author of famous songs like: "La era está pariendo un corazón", "Te doy una canción", "Unicornio" , "Rabo de Nube", "La masa", "Ojalá", among many others.
He has a very prodigal artistic career, having toured through numerous countries, specially from Latin America and the Iberian Peninsula, where his work is highly acclaimed.
