Biography

Singer.

Giselle Valdés García, whose stage name is Shira, was born in 1972, in Camaguey City.

Her professional career began in 1992, when she participated in the children"s record entitled "Arco Iris y Gaviotas". Later on, she represented Cuba at important national and international festivals together with the "Trova Son Mayoguacán".

Afterwards, Shira joined the BM Expreso Orchestra as leading soloist and made three records for Fania All Stars.

During her career as singer, she has performed the wide range of musical genres as, for example, the bolero, the salsa, the guaracha and the cha cha chá. Likewise, it is worthwhile mentioning her remarkable performances in the dramatic arts, both the theater and the television.

Extremely Cuban or "Cubanísima" (in Spanish) "as the title of one of her more recent recording productions"is the best adjective to define Shira´s interpretation.
