Los Aragoncitos de Cienfuegos

Los Aragoncitos de Cienfuegos

Biography

Children's orchestra.
The name of this orchestra constitutes a tribute paid by young generations to the world-famous Aragón Orchestra founded in Cienfuegos City in 1939 by Orestes Aragón led, some years later, by violinist and composer Rafael Lay.
Los Aragoncitos de Cienfuegos are made up by children who study different music disciplines at the "Benny Moré" Provincial School of Art in Cienfuegos City, an entity created with the purpose of successfully promoting projects in line with teaching in order to both cultivate and rescue the heritage treasure of the Cuban music as main teaching ingredient for would-be artists.
Led by Iván García, a talented violinist and the group"s director, Los Aragoncitos de Cienfuegos have been collecting successes escorted by Master Felito Molina, an outstanding musician and composer in Cienfuegos who was Rafael Lay`s friend and, therefore, advises in everything related to the style and repertoire of the orchestra, thus including a wide range of Cuban music genres, namely, the son, the danzón, the cha cha chá and some music elements specially designed for children.
When listening to them one can assert that this is a music group composed by adults and with a perfect cohesion.  Their childish voices appear to be the single fact that reveals their ages, since their interpretation, arrangements and performance highlight the skills of early talents.
