Septeto Chicuelo Son

Biographie

Septet of Cuban Traditional Music.
Founded on March 3, 1995 by the renowned Cuban percussionist Orlando Guzmán Ruiz "Chicuelo". Their repertoire includes immortal Cuban musical genres such as guaracha, cha cha chá, danzón, rumba and bolero, besides recreating other Caribbean rhythms like the  cumbia, the merengue and the zamba. They also make vocal and Latin jazz performances. The group is prepared to perform separately as trios or quartets.
The originality of Chicuelo Son´s musical arrangements has allowed it to preserve the essence of  SON, creating a contemporary sonority at the same time. Their repertoire not only includes the work of well-known composers, but of their own members as well. They have shared the stage with top representatives of Cuban music such as Rolo Martínez, Fernando Álvarez and Tito Gómez, among others.
Chicuelo has actively  participated in important national and international musical events and festivals, with great succe ss in their presentations in Athens.
